Town Hall Meeting Scheduled for Temple

AUSTIN - Central Texas citizens will have an opportunity to talk transportation at a town hall meeting scheduled next month in Temple.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is partnering with the Killeen-Temple Urban Transportation Study (KTUTS) and the Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to host the town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m., Monday, November 2 at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center, 3303 North Third Street in Temple.

TxDOT, along with KTUTS, the Waco MPO and other local and regional transportation partners, will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on projects and funding, including a brief perspective on regional infrastructure requirements for the future.

Acknowledging transportation’s role in economic development, Killeen-Temple KTUTS Director Annette Shepherd said local and regional leaders look forward to discussing the region’s future infrastructure needs.

"The economic health of a community is directly linked to the health of its infrastructure," said Shepherd. "We look forward to the opportunity to discuss important regional issues with our partners at TxDOT."

Citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in an open dialogue with the agency and local and regional transportation planners. A webcast link will be available on the TxDOT website. Viewers may participate in the town hall via the Internet and have an opportunity to submit questions during the meeting.

"This is an excellent opportunity for citizens to provide feedback on regional transportation needs," said Amadeo Saenz, TxDOT executive director. "The information we bring back will be used to shape our discussions on the future of mobility in Texas."

TxDOT held three town hall meetings last year in Abilene, Midland/Odessa and McAllen. Town Hall meetings in Nacogdoches and Kingsville were held in July and September.
