When completed, the SH 121/Southwest Parkway project will extend for
approximately 14 miles from Interstate 30 to Farm to Market Road 1187. It will
be constructed on a new location as a
four- to six-lane
divided toll road. SH 121/Southwest Parkway will connect with a 13-mile project in Johnson County from FM 1187 to US 67 in Cleburne, also
known as Chisholm Trail.
Stakeholders
SH 121/Southwest Parkway is a partnership between TxDOT, the North Texas
Tollway Authority (NTTA), the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG),
the City of Fort Worth and Tarrant County.
The Johnson County section of the
project is a partnership between TxDOT and the cities of Cleburne, Joshua,
Burleson and Johnson County.
Status Updates
TxDOT and NTTA have agreed to waive market valuation on Chisholm Trail and
combine this project with Southwest Parkway to enhance the project's feasibility
and expedite its delivery. Subject to the NTTA establishing feasibility and
previously-programmed RTC funds remaining committed to these projects, the NTTA
will deliver the entire project.
Both of the Johnson and Tarrant County SH 121 projects are environmentally
clear with right of way acquisition proceeding. As of fall 2008, the Plans,
Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) is 90-95 percent complete on the Tarrant
County project. PS&E is 90 percent complete on the Johnson County project.
Prior to construction, TxDOT will hold a public meeting and
hearing to inform the public of the projects' conversion to electronic tolls
along with an overall update on the projects.
