Evaluation Process

TxDOT determines whether there is a need for the product. We may ask you to supply your product, at no charge, for field evaluation.

The timeline for TxDOT to complete an evaluation varies widely. It is influenced by many factors, including the type of product being evaluated.

Successful Product Evaluations

For TxDOT’s Use – TxDOT may revise an existing procurement specification or develop a new one. If that is done, TxDOT could then purchase the product through the normal state purchasing process.

• Note: An evaluation does not guarantee that a specific product will be purchased.

For a Contractor’s Use – The TxDOT response to a product evaluation request will state the circumstances under which an evaluated product may be used.

• Note: An evaluation does not guarantee that a specific product will be specified by TxDOT or purchased by a TxDOT contractor.
