AUSTIN - The Transportation Commission approved the funds yesterday to complete the U.S. 67 Bypass from SH 174 in Cleburne to Spur 102 in Keene after the recommendation from the North Central Texas of Governments Regional Transportation Council.  The project will be awarded to a contractor before the end of the year.

“This is great news for the citizens of Johnson County, especially those that regularly travel between Cleburne and Keene. This funding will complete the U.S. 67 Bypass around Cleburne and enhance transportation opportunities for everyone traveling on this roadway,” said Rep. Rob Orr.  “I appreciate the Commission recognizing the importance of this project.”

This last phase of the U.S. 67 Bypass is approximately 4 miles which will continue TxDOT’s mission to provide safe and reliable transportation for Texans.

“The Transportation Commission supports projects that improve the economic vitality of the state, mobility and especially safety,” said Commission Member Bill Meadows.  “The completion of the U.S. 67 Bypass will be a great benefit to Johnson County and the city of Cleburne.”

Work on the U.S. 67 Bypass from SH 174 to Business 67 was finished last fall.  The upcoming construction will mirror that work, building a four-lane divided highway.

“Hearing that the completion of the U.S. 67 Bypass is funded is exciting news,” said Johnson County Judge Roger Harmon.  “Not only will it improve mobility and safety, it is the next critical piece in completing the accessibility to the new Chisholm Trail Parkway opening soon.”
