PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that Carpenter’s Bluff Bridge across the Red River on FM 120 in Grayson County will be closed for maintenance inspection from Dec. 12 through Dec. 14.
During that time a maintenance contractor will use an inspection truck with a boom to inspect the underside of the bridge. Routine bridge inspections are conducted every two years on highway bridges. Since the bridge is one lane, the inspection will require closure of the bridge each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The bridge will reopen to traffic each day after 5 p.m., TxDOT officials said.
Message boards alerting travelers to the closure were put in place on both sides of the bridge Dec. 5 and barricades will block both ends of the bridge to traffic during daylight hours during the inspection period.
Those who frequently use this bridge should use an alternate route while this work is underway. TxDOT officials asked drivers to pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and to reduce their speed as they approach work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems when driving.
