PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that Highway 19 Construction LLC, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will soon begin work improving the US 82 interchange at FM 898 in Fannin County.
The contractor was granted 223 working days to complete this highway safety and improvement project valued at more than $6.8 million. Work is set to begin Nov. 14.
The contractor will install a new grade separation structure (overpass), widen the US 82 bridge at Caney Creek, construct new interchange ramps, and install new signs and striping. The estimated completion date for this project, weather permitting, is September 2017, TxDOT officials said.
This project will require some lane closures and detours. Message boards will be set up to alert drivers to these changes before they occur, officials said. Whenever possible, motorists are urged to use alternate routes while this work is underway.
TxDOT officials also requested that motorists traveling in this area be alert for construction signs, and reduce their speed when approaching or traveling through work zones. They should also be prepared for temporary lane closures at times, and avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
