PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that the eastbound I-30 frontage road between FM 2642 and FM 1565 in Hunt County will switch to one-way traffic only beginning Oct. 9.

Nearby County Road 2515 will be open to traffic as an alternative westbound route when the change occurs, officials said. Contractor Austin Bridge & Road will place two message boards along this route to alert travelers to the traffic shift, one near County Road 1565 and one near FM 2642.

A temporary, 24-hour closure of one lane along the eastbound frontage road will also be necessary for the contractor to re-stripe the roadway for its new traffic configuration. When that work is completed, the frontage road will accommodate two full lanes of eastbound-only traffic on this portion of I-30, officials said. These changes are part of the ongoing underpass construction project currently underway at the intersection of I-30 and FM 2642.

Motorists traveling in this area should remain alert and pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through this temporary work zone. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
