PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that pavement and striping work has been scheduled for a portion of State Highway 56 in Grayson County, beginning Oct. 11.
The contractor, R.K. Hall LLC, Paris, Texas, was granted 56 working days, weather permitting, for this road improvement project valued at more than $1.6 million. The target date for completion is February 2018, TxDOT officials said.
The contractor will prepare the current pavement surface for an asphalt overlay, apply an overlay and add new striping to the roadway. This work will take place on State Highway 56, from Binkley Park Drive to just west of the intersection of SH 56 and State Highway 289.
TxDOT officials said this project will require some temporary lane closures at times. Flaggers will be on hand to direct traffic when closures occur.
Motorists are urged to use alternate routes whenever possible while this construction is underway. Those who must travel in this area are asked to pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
