PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that contractor R.K. Hall LLC, Paris, Texas, will soon begin milling and overlay work on two state highways in Grayson County.

The contractor will mill the current road surface in preparation for overlaying a new layer of asphalt, restripe the road and install new signs on State Highway 56 from South Binkley Drive to Colbert Street in Sherman, and from State Highway 56 to Thomas Street on State Highway 11. State Highway 56 in Sherman encompasses Houston and Lamar Streets.

Officials said the contractor was granted 45 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $2.2 million. The contractor plans to begin work April 10, and the project should be complete in June 2017.

Motorists are advised that this project will require some lane closures during construction. Flaggers will be used to guide traffic at these times. TxDOT officials requested that motorists remain alert in these areas, observe and obey traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they cautiously approach and travel through work zones.
