ODESSA – A project to resurface nearly 9 miles of Highway 191 between East Loop 338 in Odessa and FM 1788 in Midland County is set to begin this month.

The project will mill off the surface and then resurface the road. Deeper repairs will be made where needed.

Lane closures will be necessary as work progresses. The work zones will be limited to 3-mile sections. While ramp closures will be needed at times, the plans prohibit the closure of two consecutive ramps.

Motorists are reminded that state law requires them to obey any warning signs or flaggers in the work zone. Law enforcement could be increased in the work zone as well.

The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2017, weather permitting.

Jones Brothers Dirt & Paving of Odessa won the project with a low bid of $2.236 million.
