PECOS – The contractor is scheduled to start installing traffic signals at both frontage road intersections of U.S. Highway 285 at Interstate 20 in Pecos. The project is scheduled to start on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017.
The frontage roads will be made all-way stops while work is being done. Motorists need to be cautious at the new all-way stop intersections since it will be a major traffic pattern change. The all-way stop is used to improve safety for the traveling public and work crews in the project area.
Motorists are reminded that they are required by law to obey all warning signs and any flaggers in work zones.
These traffic signals are part of a $3.1 million contract that will install multiple traffic signals throughout the 12-county Odessa District. The exact number of traffic signals that will be installed under this contract depends on the locations selected. This is the second project under the contract. Willis Electric of Abilene was the low bidder on the contract.
