PLAINVIEW – Starting tomorrow, motorist driving on US 70 and SH 194, at I-27 in Plainview, can anticipate lanes closures as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) begins work to abate asbestos on the bridges. The abatement work is being done to prepare the bridges to undergo major maintenance planned for later this summer.
Work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 13, and continue through the month of July, said Mike Craig, TxDOT Plainview Area engineer.
“First to be impacted by the work, are the north- and southbound I-27 frontage road turnarounds at US 70. The turnarounds will be closed to traffic starting on Tuesday,” Craig said. “All lane closures will occur during daytime hours only, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and are not expected to impact weekend traffic,” Craig said.
Motorists should anticipate traffic delays and are urged to use caution when driving through the work zone, since crews will be working in close proximity to traffic and should keep the following tips in mind:
