Westbound Entrance Ramp From University Dr. to be Rebuilt

FORT WORTH – Work began this week on the reconstruction of the University Drive westbound entrance ramp to Interstate 30. The project will rebuild the existing entrance ramp bridge with a new bridge deck.

To accommodate this reconstruction, the ramp will be closed through this fall. Motorists can access westbound I-30 at the Montgomery Street entrance ramp.

During bridge demolition, the I-30 westbound exit to Montgomery Street will also be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through March, weather permitting. Westbound motorists can access Montgomery Street by exiting at Hulen Street, cross over I-30, and then travel eastbound on the frontage road to Montgomery Street.

The project was awarded to Iowa Bridge & Culvert, LC for $1 million. It is estimated for completion this fall.

Safety is a top priority at TxDOT, and the foundation for the agency’s planning, building and maintaining of projects across the state.  When driving through a work zone, some simple steps to take are: slow down, pay attention, avoid distractions such as cell phones, be patient and plan ahead. Motorists can plan their travel by viewing information on closures at drivetexas.org

TxDOT appreciates the patience of motorists, and encourages attention to all warning signs within the construction work zone while crews work diligently to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible.
