CHILDRESS – TxDOT recently began a project to rehabilitate the southbound lanes and a portion of the northbound lanes on US 62/83 in Childress County.
The project will begin at the intersection of US 287 and US 62/83 in Childress and continue to the north end of the Red River Bridge and will consist of milling the southbound driving lanes and a portion of the northbound driving lane, stabilizing, and replacing with an asphaltic concrete overlay.
When the rehabilitation is complete, the existing deck on the Red River Bridge will also receive an asphaltic concrete overlay, with permanent centerline rumble strips added throughout the entire project.
This project will require the use of a temporary traffic signal for a one-lane, two-way operation at the north end of the Red River Bridge.
Motorists will encounter delays while this project is underway, due to the temporary traffic signal. TxDOT urges drivers to pay special attention to all signs and traffic control and to reduce their speed.
