Traffic changes planned for first full week of December on US 180 East and US 183 South
BRECKENRIDGE – Breckenridge-area motorists can expect traffic pattern changes in early December as reconstruction projects progress on two major thoroughfares in and near the city.
US 180 East (East Walker Street): The reconstruction of US 180 East enters phase 3, with work commencing on the section from Graham Aveenu to just east of Melrose Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction in this area. This $13.4 million project is reconstructing a 2.3-mile section of US 180 from Gonzales Creek east to State Highway 67. Completion is anticipated in late 2018, weather permitting.
US 183 South (South Breckenridge Avenue): Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from near Williams Street to near Aberdeen Street as major construction begins on this $3.7 million project. Parallel parking will not be permitted in this area due to roadway width constraints associated with construction. Completion is anticipated in late 2018, weather permitting.
Prater Equipment Co., Inc. of Comanche is the contractor for both projects.
Work zone speed limits are in effect in both construction zones. Motorists are reminded that traffic fines are doubled in work zones when workers are present. Drivers are encouraged to visit DriveTexas.org for highway condition updates.
