Bridge crossing Bennett Creek to be replaced; traffic will be detoured to adjacent roads for approximately three months
GOLDTHWAITE – Crews with Hodges and Son Construction Company, Inc. of Omaha, Texas are scheduled to begin demolition and replacement of the bridge crossing Bennett Creek on Mills County Road 333 beginning on or around Thursday, Jan. 12. The $363,760.40 project is expected to take approximately three months to complete. This location is in eastern Mills County, southwest of Star.
Throughout the construction period, traffic will be detoured along CR 332 to US 84, to FM 1047 to CR 333.
The current bridge was built in 1940 and can no longer accommodate vehicles weighing more than 24,000 pounds. The new concrete bridge will have no weight restrictions.
This bridge replacement project is being funded through the Highway Bridge Program, a federal aid program that provides funding to enable states to improve the condition of highway bridges through replacement, rehabilitation and systematic preventive maintenance. TxDOT’s Bridge Division is responsible for administering this program statewide.
