AUSTIN – The proposed realignment of the FM 973 roadway in east-central Travis County will be the topic of discussion at an upcoming open house hosted by TxDOT on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The meeting will take place at Manor Middle School, 12900 Gregg Manor Road, Manor, Texas 78653.

The purpose of the proposed FM 973 Realignment project is to improve mobility and connectivity and provide additional roadway capacity to meet future traffic demands due to population growth. The proposed project would:

  • Realign approximately 4.74 to 5.61 miles (depending on the alignment selected) of the existing roadway between US 290 and SH 130, in a new location
  • Expand the two-lane undivided roadway into four travel lanes (two in each direction) separated by a grassy median, with turn lanes in various locations
  • Construct a shared-use path and sidewalks
  • Include a typical right-of-way width of 200 feet
  • Require between 71 and 122 acres of right of way

The open house will allow citizens the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed realignment project for FM 973 from US 290 to SH 130. Displays will be available for review, and staff will be present to answer questions. No formal presentation will be given and attendees are invited to come and go at their convenience.

Comments will be accepted from Nov. 7 – Dec. 22 and can be submitted at the open house, online through the TxDOT website, or by mail at:
