TxDOT to Host Open House for US 79 Improvements from I-35 to East of FM 1460

ROUND ROCK – TxDOT will host an open house for the proposed improvements of US 79 on Sept. 28, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at PFC Robert P. Hernandez Middle School, 1901 Sunrise Road, Round Rock, TX 78664.

The purpose of the proposed US 79 project is to improve safety and mobility and accommodate future population growth and land use development in the area. Potential improvements include

  • Widening the existing US 79 roadway to add a third travel lane in each direction
  • Installing a raised median for safety
  • Improving intersections to include potential overpasses at US 79/Mays Street and US 79/FM 1460 and altering the US 79/I-35 intersection
  • Modifying driveways and access points to improve safety and traffic flow
  • Installing bicycle and pedestrian accommodations

The open house will allow citizens the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed improvement project for US 79 between I-35 and East of FM 1460 (A.W. Grimes) in Williamson County. Displays will be available for review, and staff will be present to answer questions. No formal presentation will be given, and attendees are invited to come and go at their convenience.

Attendees will be able to view maps and exhibits and provide written comments at the open house. Comments will be accepted Sept. 7, 2017, through Oct. 13, 2017, and can be submitted at the open house or by mail:
