An overpass for a future haul road will be constructed in the coming year on Farm-to-Market Road 2625 southwest of Marshall, according to plans approved in August by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

“SWEPCO is paying to have an overpass built on FM 2625 just west of State Highway 43 to make way for a future haul road for lignite coal for its power plant,” said Paul Wong, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall. “A temporary detour road will be constructed on the north side of the present highway to allow traffic to continue to use the roadway while the new structure is being built.”

Longview Bridge and Road was awarded the contract for this project with a bid of $2.3 million.

Work on the project should begin in October and take about eight months to complete, Wong said.
