ATLANTA – Farm-to-Market Road 3378 in Bowie County will be widened this summer according to plans approved in February by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
"We will be widening a 10.1-mile section of FM 3378 between US 82 and FM 992 near New Boston. The current highway is 20 feet wide, and we will be widening it to 26 feet," said Kenny Icenhower, area engineer for TxDOT in Texarkana. "We will also be adding safety features on drainage structures, and texturized shoulders and centerlines in the pavement to help prevent head-on and run-off-the-road wrecks."
CDM Holdings of New Boston was awarded the contract for the project with a bid of $902,911.
Work on the project should begin in April and take about four months to complete, Icenhower said.
