ATLANTA – A section of Farm-to-Market Road 450 in Hallsville will be widened during the next few months according to plans approved in January by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
"We will be widening a 1.4-mile section of FM 450 between Interstate 20 and FM 968. The current highway is 22 feet wide, and we will be widening it to 28 feet," said Paul Wong, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall. "We will basically be adding three-foot paved shoulders to each side of the highway."
Fritcher Construction Services of Flint, Texas, was awarded the contract for the project with a bid of $481,677.
Work on the project should begin in March and take about five months to complete, Wong said.
