As work continues on the streetscape enhancement project in downtown Amarillo, motorists traveling on 10th Avenue should expect a detour at Buchanan Street starting Monday, March 6. Eastbound traffic will detour to 11th Avenue and westbound traffic will detour to Third Avenue. Work is expected to last for two weeks.
Sixth Avenue at Pierce Street is scheduled to close March 14 and be closed for approximately one week. Traffic will be detoured at Fourth Avenue to Tyler Street.
The US 60 (Buchanan Street) Downtown Enhancement Project consists of removing and replacing concrete and storm sewers, placing brick sidewalks and street crossings, lighting and landscaping. Construction will continue through June 2017 as TxDOT and its contractors bring the highway up to ADA requirements while complementing the city of Amarillo’s downtown catalyst projects as many near completion.
Please remember to slow down, pay attention in construction zones and be aware of the safety of construction workers. TxDOT appreciates your patience as crews work on these improvements.
