Johnson replaces Stan Swiatek, P.E., as district engineer
ABILENE – Carl L. Johnson, P.E., has been selected to lead TxDOT’s Abilene District as district engineer. Johnson fills the position left by Stan Swiatek, P.E., who recently was appointed district engineer for TxDOT’s Waco District.
As district engineer, Johnson will oversee the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of state transportation for the district’s 13 counties. He joins the Abilene District from the Brownwood District, where he served for 22 years.
His TxDOT career began in 1995 in the Brownwood District’s Lampasas Area Office where he was involved in construction, design and survey work. In 2001 he moved to the district operations office and most recently served as the Brownwood District’s director of operations.
Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering technology from Texas Tech University and obtained his professional engineer license in 2007.
