Long-lasting, durable concrete surface to be installed
ABILENE – TxDOT contractors are gearing up to start August 7 on a months-long project at the intersection of Southwest Drive and the US 83 frontage roads (S. Clack Street and Danville Drive).
This project, which is expected to wrap up in early November, will replace current pavement in the intersections, underpass and turnarounds with a durable, long-lasting concrete surface. A wide load restriction will be in place throughout the duration of the project.
During construction, drivers are encouraged to be watchful for workers and large, slow moving equipment, and to allow extra time to reach their destination if they must travel through the area. Detours will be in place throughout the project, but delays should be expected as crew members work to improve this intersection, which is one of the busiest in Abilene.
The $2.3 million project was awarded to O. Trevino Construction, LLC, of Roanoke. The current construction schedule includes construction work on Saturdays and is expected to take place during daytime hours only.
