TxDOT invites four-year college and university student teams to create innovative projects that provide solutions to present and future transportation challenges.
This year’s program has been extended to the fall semester of 2015. Participants selected for the winning team will receive a financial prize and have their project recognized on the TxDOT website.

Rice University - 2013 TxDOT College Challenge Winner
Students presented their projects at the 9th annual Texas Transportation Forum in San Antonio, where the audience voted to help select the winners.
Rice University received the top prize in the first TxDOT College Challenge. The team of Rice students developed an expandable bike rack to increase the number of bicyclists who can ride public buses.
Students from Austin College in Sherman and the University of Houston were awarded second and third places.
The Texas Good Roads and Transportation Association sponsored the competition with TxDOT.
