Open House - SH 71 from FM 1300 to FM 2765

Purpose:

The TxDOT Yoakum District will host a public meeting to present the proposed roadway improvements for SH 71 in El Campo, Wharton County. The proposed project’s limits are from Farm to Market 1300 to FM 2765 in El Campo. The public meeting will be held in an open house format with no formal presentation.

Description:

The proposed improvements include adding a center turn lane and two additional travel lanes throughout the project limits.  Storm sewers would also be installed to allow for a curb and gutter facility. The proposed project would improve mobility by increasing capacity, thus improving the safety of this section of roadway.

 

The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on the proposed improvements. The public is invited to view project maps, visit with team members, ask questions, and share comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted using any of the following methods:

  • Written comment card submitted at the meeting
  • Written comments submitted by mail, email or fax after the meeting

Faxed comments will also be accepted at (361) 293-4372. Written comments must be postmarked, faxed or emailed to Yoakum District Email by Dec. 2, 2016, for inclusion in the public meeting record.

The meeting will be conducted in English. People interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the Yoakum District Environmental Specialist at (361) 293-4424. Requests should be made by Nov. 14, 2016. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs. The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
