Open House – I-35 Comal County Operational Improvements

Purpose:

The purpose of the open house to discuss two proposed projects to improve intersections and frontage roads in the City of New Braunfels and Comal County, Texas on I-35 from FM 1103 to the Guadalupe River, and from the Guadalupe River to the Comal/Hays County Line. The meeting will be held in an open house format so citizens may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions.

Description:

The projects are proposed to improve:

  • Traffic operations at intersections
  • Frontage roads
  • Ramps
  • Roadway widening
  • Intersection reconfigurations
  • Bridge realignments
  • Ramp revisions that are being proposed to improve traffic flow

The southern I-35 project limits are from FM 1103 to the Guadalupe River, a project distance of approximately 9.25 miles. The proposed project would include operational improvements to seven intersections along I-35 within the project limits, and would require approximately 2.6 acres of right of way.

The northern I-35 project limits are from the Guadalupe River to the Comal/Hays County Line, a project distance of approximately 9.5 miles. The proposed project would include operational improvements to six intersections along I-35 within the project limits, includes the addition of one new-location, grade-separated intersection, and would require approximately 5.3 acres of right of way.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.

Comments must be received on or before Nov. 30, 2017 to be a part of the official open house record.
