When:

Tuesday, April 25, 2017
Open House: 5:30 p.m.
Hearing: 6:30 p.m.

Purpose:

The purpose of the public hearing is to gather public input on the proposed reconstruction and widening of 6.4 miles of Farm to Market (FM) 1960 from Business Farm to Market Road (BF) 1960-A to Atascocita Shores Drive in Harris County, Texas. The first part of the meeting will be an open house format so citizens may come and go at their convenience, followed by a formal presentation and comment period.

Description:

Proposed improvements include the following:

  • Reconstruct and widen the existing FM 1960 roadway from a four-lane roadway to a six-lane divided roadway (three lanes in each direction with the outside lanes being shared-use lanes) with curb and gutter and a raised median
  • Construct a grade separation at Atascocita Road, West Lake Houston Parkway, and Farmingham DriveBetter drainage
  • Add five-foot wide sidewalks on both sides of FM 1960

The project would require approximately 48 acres of new right of way (ROW). The proposed project would potentially displace 13 commercial properties and three residential structures. The existing ROW width is typically 100-feet wide to 120-feet wide. The proposed ROW would typically be 150-feet wide.

Comments must be received on or before May 10, 2017 to be part of the official hearing record.
