Open House and Public Hearing - SH 105 Realignment and Bridge Replacement

Where: Navasota Center
101 Stadium Drive
Navasota, TX
When: Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013
Open House: 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Public Hearing: 6 p.m.

Purpose: The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and gather public input on the proposed realignment (shift) of SH 105 to accommodate three bridge replacements.

Expected benefits include improving safety along SH 105 by relocating the Brazos River Bridge to a more stable location, and replacing functionally obsolete bridges at Navasota River and Coles Creek to meet current design standards. The proposed project is needed because the Brazos River has compromised the foundation of the east approach to the Brazos River Bridge on SH 105. Federal bridge funds will pay for the expected $25 million cost, and construction is tentatively targeted to begin in 2014.

Description: Proposed improvements include the following:
  • Construct three new bridges to replace existing bridges:
    • Brazos River Bridge
    • Navasota River Bridge
    • Coles Creek Bridge
  • Realign SH 105

No displacements are expected to occur.
