Andrea Lofye serves as director of Federal Affairs.
Lofye has served as a congressional liaison with TxDOT since 2010. She has worked on a variety of TxDOT initiatives, such as the Tower 55 Multimodal Improvement Project’s $34 million federal grant, the development of the first Texas Transportation Commission-approved Public Involvement Policy, and research projects related to Texas transportation funding and the costs of transportation construction delays. She also oversees the implementation of the surface transportation authorization legislation and leads a joint working group with the Federal Highway Administration related to the legislation’s implementation by TxDOT.
Prior to joining TxDOT, Lofye served as the executive vice president/chief operating officer for Austin’s Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority. She managed a staff of more than 1,500 employees and directed the operations, maintenance, safety and security activities for Capital Metro’s bus, paratransit, freight rail and commuter rail services. Additionally, she oversaw Capital Metro’s government relations strategy and initiatives. She also served the transportation authority as chief of staff and vice president of public affairs.
Lofye worked on Capitol Hill for several years and served seven members of the U.S. Congress, including the chairman of the U.S. Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, the Senate Banking Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. She also worked for the Minnesota State Legislature as an aide to two members of the Minnesota Senate, and is a veteran of several political campaigns at the local and national levels. Lofye earned a bachelor of arts degree at the University of Minnesota.
