Currently there is no funding to build I-69. As funding becomes available, existing highways along the corridor will be improved in a series of small, local-level projects.

Additionally, there are existing freeway sections along the I-69 Texas system that may be close to interstate quality. TxDOT is working with the Federal Highway Administration to designate these sections as I-69. As the local-level improvements to interstate quality connect these pieces, I-69 Texas will develop.
