The I-69 Advisory Committee and five I-69 Segment Committees were created in 2008 by the Texas Transportation Commission to research and make recommendations on developing I-69 Texas.  As part of this research and planning, business owners, local leaders and citizens offered feedback on creating the roadway.

In studying their communities and the state, Segment Committee members identified the following transportation needs:

• Accommodating population and traffic growth


• Providing safer travel


• Creating additional capacity of crucial emergency evacuation routes


• Maintaining economic competitiveness
