A Medical Priority Boarding (MPB) pass is available for individuals whose medical condition renders them unable to wait in line for routine boarding. Passes are issued for the duration of the patient's condition and require a physician's certification. There is no cost to obtain a MPB pass. The Medical Priority Boarding (MPB) does not exempt pass holders from the screening process that occurs during ferry boarding.

TxDOT is working to develop a Medical Priority Boarding system which will automate the application and issuing of MPB passes to improve the management and use of MPB passes.
