Preservation of Cultural Resources

We work closely with other state agencies to plan and coordinate the preservation of important Texas resources such as historic structures, bridges and sites that may be impacted by transportation projects.

Program Description
Archeology Sites of historic significance may be studied and excavated to determine their cultural significance and discover what impact a proposed project may have them.
Historic Structures We have created a list of buildings, bridges and other structures of historic significance and continue to work to ensure they are properly inventoried.
Historic Bridges We put some bridges that are removed from state roads on sale to the public. They have been used for everything from golf courses to private use.
