TxDOT is currently developing the 2011-2015 Strategic Plan. As part of the process, the department is updating its strategic direction statements, including its mission, vision, values, goals and strategies. The Strategic Plan will work with the State of Texas Transportation Plan to align transportation projects with strategic goals.
On September 24, 2009, the Transportation Commission approved draft strategic direction statements. Prior to this approval, the department conducted an online public poll and eight regional public focus groups to gather public opinion of the department and gauge the state's transportation needs.
Throughout fall 2009, districts, divisions and offices will present draft strategic direction statements and videos to public and private stakeholders to share draft statements and obtain feedback. At the same time, an internal workgroup of subject matter experts will work with department executive administration to refine agency goals and identify performance measures.
The Commission will then use this information to finalize our goals and determine performance targets.
TxDOT will continue to solicit input through an online survey where the public can provide feedback on the draft strategic direction statements.
