The option being considered
for this section of I-35 is a combination of the wide and narrow options
presented in previous public meetings, as described below. Intersections will
be improved and frontage roads will be converted to one-way throughout the
entire I-35 corridor.

Road

Road to FM 2484
The preferred alignment includes a wide section throughout
much of the area, allowing entrance and exit ramps within the developed area of
Salado. The area between S. FM 2268 and Thomas Arnold Road
has been developed with a compressed section to avoid impacts to a historic
property on the west side, while minimizing impacts to adjacent property on the
east side.
From the beginning of the project to north of Salado Creek, the
alignment holds the existing right of way on the west side and shifts the
alignment of I-35 to the east. From Salado Creek to north of Thomas Arnold Road,
additional right of way would be needed from both sides.
Between Thomas Arnold
Road and N. FM 2268, the alignment holds the existing right of way on the east
side and shifts the alignment of I-35 to the west. From N. FM 2268 to the end
of the project, the alignment shifts back to the east.
About 200 feet of
additional right of way would be needed through the wide sections, and
about 70 feet of additional right of way would be needed through the
compressed section.
