Previous public involvement has resulted in the consideration of a single
option through the City of West. The alignment being proposed for the area north
of FM 1858 to south of Marable St. involves a shift to the west to minimize
impacts to properties on the east side.
Two primary options are being considered
for the section of I-35 north of Marable St. to Abbott, as described below.
Intersections will be improved to include left-turn lanes, with U-turns in the
urban areas. Frontage roads will be converted to one-way throughout the entire I-35 corridor.
East Option
The East option holds the existing right of way on the west side and shifts
the alignment of I-35 to the east. About 200 feet of additional right of
way would be needed along the east side for this option. The plots below are
