TxDOT, in cooperation with local and regional officials, is responsible for planning,
designing, building, operating and maintaining the state's transportation
system. Our goals are to:
reduce congestion,
enhance safety,
expand economic opportunity,
improve air quality, and
increase the value of transportation assets.
TxDOT works to achieve these goals through four strategies:
using all financial options to build transportation projects,
empowering local leaders to solve local transportation problems,
increasing competition to drive down costs, and
demanding consumer-driving decisions.
We also register motor vehicles, provide travel information, license
automobile dealers and oversee many other
programs and
services.
