Bray is director of the Motor Vehicle Division of the Texas Department of
Transportation. The division licenses motor-vehicle dealers and manufacturers
doing business in Texas, regulates their advertising and sales practices, and
administers the state’s "lemon law," which helps owners and lessees of new
vehicles who face repeated problems with repairs. The division also acts as a
forum for disputes between new motor-vehicle dealers and manufacturers.
Bray began as licensing director when the division was the Texas Motor Vehicle
Commission. He managed the licensing program, supervised the licensing staff and
acted as hearings examiner. He became division director in October 1993.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration and graduating
summa cum laude from St. Edward’s University, Bray earned a law degree from St.
Mary’s University School of Law. He is a member of the College of the State Bar
and is certified in administrative law by the Texas Board of Legal
Specialization.
Bray is a licensed attorney, a member of the Travis County Bar Association, and
serves on numerous state and county bar committees. He has served three terms as
president of the National Association of Motor Vehicle Boards and Commissions.
He also serves on the board of directors of Capitol Credit Union and is a
lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
An Amarillo native, Bray grew up in Dripping Springs. He and his wife, Linda,
spend their spare time working on the family ranch in the Hill Country. |
