Zane
L. Webb, P.E., is director of the
Maintenance Division of the Texas Department of
Transportation (TxDOT). He is responsible for all TxDOT maintenance activities,
including oversight of maintenance operations, field engineering, vegetation
management, marine operations and architectural services. He became director in
May 1998.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of
Texas at Austin in 1982, Webb joined TxDOT’s Tyler District and worked as a
designer, project engineer and assistant resident engineer in the Athens Area
Office. He became the Jacksonville area engineer January 1988.
Moving to the Waco District in 1994, Webb managed the eight-county district’s
maintenance operations for nearly four years. He was then selected as director
of the Maintenance Division in Austin.
Webb currently serves as chairman of the subcommittee on maintenance for the
Western Association of State Highway Transportation Officials, is past chairman
of the Northeast Texas Region Maintenance and Operations Team, and is a member
of the subcommittee on maintenance for the American Association of State Highway
Transportation Officials.
A native of Houston, Webb served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1976 and was a
member of the Rotary International from 1987 to1994. He became a licensed
professional engineer in 1987.
Webb enjoys golf, hiking, fishing, boating and backpacking. He and his wife,
Carolyn, have two children, Vernon and Wendy, and three grandchildren. |
