Scott
D. Burford
was appointed director of the Texas Department of Transportation’s
General
Services Division (GSD) in November 2003. He is responsible for directing the
central purchasing office overseeing management of TxDOT property; equipment
fleet; preventive maintenance; alternative fuels program; online publications;
and materials and supplies programs. In July 1981, Scott began his career with
TxDOT and was responsible for coordinating building services for the Technology
Services Division (TSD). In
January 1982 he took on additional duties in TSD human resources with
responsibility for contract and facilities management programs. Burford was
promoted to General Services branch manager in March 1983 where he directed TSD
administrative functions. In February 1994, he headed up the newly organized
Procurement and General Administrative Support Branch where he directed the
development and management of statewide information resource procurement,
contract support and administrative functions for TSD. In March 1998, Burford
was appointed director of TSD’s Resource Management and Procurement Services and
served there until appointed GSD director.
Burford was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry in November 2005 to serve on the Texas
Council on Purchasing from People with Disabilities until January 2011. An
Austin native, Burford earned his bachelor of business administration
degree from Texas State University in 1980. Scott and wife Angie, have two
children, Scott Jr. and Erin. |
