Bridge Director

David Hohmann, P.E., is director of the Bridge Division. He became director in January 2009.

Hohmann began his career with TxDOT in 1982 as an engineering assistant in the Bridge Design Section of the Bridge Division. He became a design branch manager in 1991 and became director of the Bridge Design Section in 2001. He was appointed interim director in October 2008 prior to being named division director.

Hohmann serves on the Executive Committee of the AASHTO Subcommittee on Bridges and Structures, of which he is a member. He also serves on the Technical Committee for Steel Design and chairs the Technical Committee for Concrete Design.

A native of Fredericksburg, Hohmann earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982 and became a registered professional engineer in 1987.

Hohmann and his wife, Shelly, live in Austin and have two children.
