Laredo District Engineer

Albert Quintanilla, P.E.Albert Quintanilla, P.E., is the district engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT's) Laredo District.

A native of Edinburg, Quintanilla’s 24-year career with TxDOT began in the Houston District’s Design Engineer’s office and Central Design section.

Quintanilla also served the Pharr District where he held several positions in the Raymondville Area Office and served as Hebbronville area engineer for thirteen years where his purview included the design, construction and maintenance of transportation facilities in Brooks, Jim Hogg, Starr and Zapata counties.

Quintanilla began his ascent to district engineer while at the Laredo District. He served as director of maintenance from December 1, 2006 to May 31, 2008, and in a dual role as deputy district engineer and director of transportation, planning and development from June 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. He also served as interim Laredo District engineer from August 1 to December 31, 2008.

As district engineer, Quintanilla oversees all planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations in Dimmit, Duval, Kinney, La Salle, Maverick, Val Verde, Webb and Zavala counties.

Quintanilla is a 1984 graduate of Texas A&I University at Kingsville with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Quintanilla is married to Maricela G. Quintanilla, an assistant principal at Finley Elementary in Laredo. They have two daughters; Monica, a special education major at Texas A&M International University-Laredo, and Maribel, a student at United High School in Laredo.
