Beaumont District Engineer

Effective September 1, 2008, Randall (Randy) Redmond, P.E., was named district engineer for the Beaumont District of the Texas Department of Transportation.

His area of responsibility includes the following counties: Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, and Tyler.

Randy is no stranger to TxDOT. Until this most recent appointment, he was the director of transportation planning and development for the Tyler District.

As Tyler’s TP&D director for the past five years, Randy has managed several projects for the district, most notably Loop 49, the first toll project for the Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority.

Before moving to the district office, Randy also served as the area engineer in the Tyler and Mineola Area Offices, managing several bridge, mobility and safety projects.

In 1998, he was the assistant director of maintenance in Tyler, and served as the district’s vegetation manager and Routine Airport Maintenance Program coordinator. Before that, he served as the assistant and associate area engineer in the Mineola Area Office and for five years, worked as an engineering assistant there as well.

Randy began his career with TxDOT working as an engineering technician in Mineola while he was a student at Texas A&M University.

Randy has a great track record of working with communities to develop comprehensive plans and in delivering projects. Randy is a good fit in Beaumont to assist local officials in meeting the region’s growing traffic demands from plant expansions and preparing for storm evacuations.

Randy is a native of Van, and married his high school sweetheart, Paige. They have two sons, Hunter and Rye.
