We began a redesign of our Web site in the summer of 2006. Our goal is to help
you find what you are looking for as quickly as possible. Organization of Content
As a result of customer feedback, we organized information by four major audiences: Citizen,
Business, Government and Travel. Links to these audience pages are found in the
center of our home page and in the left-hand navigation of all other pages.
- Citizen Page – Contains information
for the general public, including vehicle registration,
driver licenses, public meetings and more.
- Business Page – Contains
information for contractors, consultants, motor carrier operators, vehicle
dealers and more. A lot of content from the old "e-Business" page and Motor
Carrier "One Stop Shop" page can be found here.

Government Page – Contains
information of interest to government officials, including strategic plans,
legislative information and grant information.
- Travel Page – Contains information
to help vacationers and commuters alike. Road conditions reports, traffic
cameras, maps and tourist information are just a few of the items found
here.
In the upper right-hand corner of each audience page is a box containing the
10 most popular links from that page. If you are looking for frequently
requested information such as road conditions, it will likely be on the
top 10 list.
Who We Are and What We Do
Information about who we are and what we do is housed in the blue navigation bar across the top of the page.
- About Us – Contains information about our
mission, structure,
history, management and governing body – the Texas Transportation Commission.
- Careers – Human resources
information, such as employment opportunities,
benefits information and our recruitment practices.
- Local Information – Our 25 districts oversee transportation issues in the 254
counties of Texas. You can find information about your local area here.
- News – Our news releases, media contacts and newsletters can be found here.
- Programs – A list of all TxDOT programs.
- Services – Displays content based on TxDOT's
organizational structure.
Other Features
- Search – We have significantly
improved our search engine. Give it a try!
- Site Map – An alphabetized index
of content for the entire site. This appears in gray text at the top and
bottom of every page.
- Contact Us – Information on how
to reach us. This also appears in gray text at the top and bottom of every
page.
Our Web site has more than 180,000 files, so this redesign is a work in
progress. Some pages will still have the old look, and those pages will open in
new windows. Once you are finished with an old page, just close that window to
return to the new site. We will continue to look for ways to improve our site. If you
